I think this was my first ever real waffle, which was during my first ever visit to Brussels (which I would end up visiting a lot of times afterward). I didn’t know the difference between Liège and Brussels style waffles back then (or that there were two types) so I just pointed to one, which happened to be this one with strawberries and chocolate. In hindsight I do love Brussels-style waffles, which are light, crispy, and fluffy, whereas the Liège-style ones are more sugary and heavy and not really my cup of tea. I enjoy a simple Brussels waffle with gentle powdered sugar coating and nothing more, though once in a while I did have the urge to indulge in a Liège one. Ah, those days in Belgium, I miss them!
