Raw oyster at Kuromon Market

Item: Raw oyster at Kuromon Market
Date: January 9, 2018
Location: Kuromon Market, Osaka, Japan

This is the biggest raw oyster I’ve ever had and it was perhaps bigger than my palm. From ordering, to waiting for it to be shucked and prepared, to eating the actual oyster, it took more than 20 minutes because the line at the particular stall that sold this was so long (and it was already not bad – the line got much longer after). In addition to serving oysters of different sizes (and prices), the stall also specialized in uni (sea urchin), which most people did get but I skipped. In hindsight I should have gotten at least two oysters and tried some uni, taking the queue into consideration. I’ll keep that in mind for my next visit to Kuromon Market!
