Chirash in Glasgow

Item: Chirash in Glasgow
Date: November 5, 2016
Location: Nippon Kitchen, Glasgow, Scotland

The chirashi, or raw fish on rice, is one of my favourite things to order at a Japanese restaurant, even though a good bowl of chirashi is usually rather expensive. Dining at a Japanese restaurant with some friends, I noticed the addition of chirashi on their menu since my previous visit and ordered it without a second thought. I didn’t have high expectations but what arrived on the table impressed me. Not only was it beautifully presented (please excuse the poor quality of the photo – the lighting was horrible for photography and I already tried my best with Lightroom!) but the fish was so fresh and the fish eggs were so huge! Of course the variety of fish was a little limited, but at least you’ve got the classics – salmon, tuna, and mackerel. After this meal I craved sashimi daily…again soon?!
