Item: “King of Mushrooms” soup, 菌皇湯

In Beijing, a roasted duck dinner is not to be missed, but before the main course, why not have a bowl of soup to start? This soup comes with a majestic name – King of Mushrooms – and was my favourite of the night aside from the actual roasted duck. There were so many types of mushrooms in the bowl, most of which I had never seen before but all so soft and tasting so fresh when mixed together. The broth was heavenly and I could easily have ordered a second bowl!
