Several years ago I was at a friend’s place for a Chinese new year dinner and before the big feast, some cold appetizers were served to “open up the stomach”, as the Chinese say. These include specially marinated peanuts, beef and pork slices, garlic, and cucumbers. They make sure we weren’t toooooo hungry as we waited for the main courses 😛
