Item: Soup bun with crab filling, 蟹黃湯包

During my trip to Shanghai, in addition to the famous “xiao long bao” (“little caged buns”), I got to try a variation of it called “tang bao”, or literally “soup bun”. Each one is filled with crab meat about the size of an adult’s fist and sits in its own “cage”. There’s so much soup inside the buns that a straw is provided to suck up the soup, but be careful – the soup is also very hot so you might burn your tongue!
