Choucroute garnie, a traditional dish in Alsace (northeastern France), is sauerkraut served with potatoes an assortment of meat, like sausages and salted pork. I’ve had it in Bordeaux before, but I wasn’t going to leave Strasbourg without trying it at least once, in the region where it originated. And wow, I was impressed. The combination of sauerkraut and meat was perfect, every type of meat tasted delicious (except the round ball, which was some sort of liver, I assumed…I didn’t like that at all), and the huge portion left me more than just full. What a wonderful end to my stay in Strasbourg!
